GPS

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted.  Life's been a little hectic!  Since I've just returned from a trip where we practically trusted the GPS with our life, I thought this quote would be very appropriate, and I love the analogy!

In our trip called life, God is the destination, Jesus is the road to God, and the Holy Spirit is the GPS to guide us. We do run into road construction that can detour us, but we must get past the detours and back on the main road to get to our destination.
                                    ~ Paul Hoffman

OH and I must add, there may also be several twists and turns along our pathway, and at times, we may want to "ralph" but it we stay calm, and remember to listen to that still small voice, God will carry us through!

Attitudes

How easy to wear the garment of grouch,
To scowl and mutter, to grumble and slouch.
The garment of praise is much harder to wear,
For it's light and slips off if not fastened with care.
But oh, what a difference when day turns to night,
From the ache of the grouch, to the joy of delight!
How the spirit breathes freely and flies to the One
To whom all adoration is rightfully sung.
So wear, by His grace, on both gray and bright days,
Not the garment of grouch, but the garment of praise.

Captain

The Bible says Noah's Ark was built by amateurs, where as history records the Titanic ship was built by professionals. The Ark sailed and survived the biggest floods mankind as ever known. . . But the Titanic Sank!
Let's put our trust in the best captain the world has ever known, the one who can take us out of the storms and floods to a safe land. . .

He is JESUS, THE GREAT CAPTAIN of our Soul

Benefits

In life we look forward to countless benefits. In our jobs and in our everyday life. I will refer to these as our Earthly benefits.  I'll name a few:

nice car, health insurance, vacations, dental insurance, pay checks, nice house, boat, food, clothes, malls, friends, family, animals, shoes, AC, money, freedom, jobs, technology, media, etc.

Often times our minds are focused on these earthly benefits and we can get carried away with them and take them all for granted.  And while these benefits are blessings from God, what about the countless spiritual benefits God grants us? We read tonight in church from Psalms 68.  The minister focused alot on verse 19 and tied it in with the 2nd reading.  It reads:

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.

God LOADS us daily with so many benefits they are overflowing. Picture yourself with your arms spread widely open as if you were hugging santa claus.  God fills our outstretched arms to overflowing with his wonderful benefits, daily. I have brainstormed a few of the countless benefits that I can think of that God has granted me in my life...it's been good for me to thinkand ponder about and to be more thankful for them...and to focus more on these benefits than on the earthly ones.

  • He gives us grace, peace, joy, faith, love, patience, hope.
  • He promises us a home in heaven.
  • He puts us through tribulation.
  • He gave us salvation.
  • He grants us the Holy spirit...a down payment to heaven.
  • The Holy Spirit pricks, and comforts, and teaches.
  • He placed me in a wonderful church family, with supportive fellowship.
  • He gives me knowledge and wisdom.
  • He makes me strong when I am weak.
  • He created this perfect world that we are only passing through for a short time.
  • He NEVER leaves.

Take time the think of the benefits God loads you daily with.

Today's Thought

Pray, but only on days ending in "y".

Quote

Our worse day with Christ is better than our best day without Him.

Good to think about...I need to be more thankful for where I am in life.

Who is He?

Today I decided to take a moment to think about Jesus and who He is to me.  I came to discover that my list would be infinite because He is everthing to me, but it was still good for me to think about.  I'll share some of my discoveries with you.

He is my rock. A place to go when I am crumbling, when I am weak.

He is my lifeguard, when I am drowning in life, and it gives me strength to remember that my lifeguard can walk on water.

He is my shepherd.  I always know who to follow and where to go, even when I am lost in the deepest of forests.

He is my hidden treasure. (that is not hidden!)  RIch and full of jewels, bursting with a wealth above all earthly comprehension.

He is my policeman.  Keeping me safe in His arms, but stopping me when I do wrong.

He is the Captain of my soul, commanding my move.
And He is the captain of my ship, safely guiding me through each storm and flood in my life.

He is the shoes on my feet.  They go with me wherever I go, enduring the wear and tear, and the pain and sufferening I put them through.

He is the soap to my hands, cleansing my soul.

He is the fabric of my life, finely weaved into everything I do, and everything I am.

He is my teacher, the most knowledgable, patient, kind, and loving one of all.

He is my doctor, the only doctor that will never send me a bill.

He is the robber who stole my heart.

And He is my closest friend, my savior, my EVERYTHING.

Who is Jesus to you?
