Emerson : 12 months

Emerson 12 month pictures:

I can't believe I'm 1 year old, mom!

We traveled to Leo this month for thanksgiving at Jesse and Karla's.  Emerson enjoyed spending time with Wren and trying to keep up with her bigger cousins!

First Christmas - With the Eisenmann's

Emerson got a pack n play for her doll

And a little doll

and a book!

It was odd having a Christmas with warm enough weather to have the screen door open and kids playing out side!

Emerson turned 1 on December 15th.  Birthday Party pictures to come!*
A couple weeks after her birthday, she popped her 2 top teeth through.  She was definitely more fussy this time around than last.  She ran a low grade fever for a few days and got a bad diaper rash, but we survived with lots of tylenol and motrin! We also worked on weaning her off her bottle to a sippy cup after her birthday.  It took a few weeks but she in now completely off her bottle. Her sippy cup is very close to a bottle nipple so that helped the transition be a little easier. She had been drinking her bottle in bed before naps and at night, however we worked on weaning her from that as well, and just giving her her sippy cup before we lay her down.  She usually has to cry herself to sleep for a few minutes, but otherwise does really well. We took her off formula and put her on whole milk at 12 months as well, which went very smoothly.

She loves to play patty cake, peek a boo, has learned how to say "please" in sign language (sometime after 12 months), likes to be the center of attention and show off, stranges sometimes to men, and thinks "no" means "do it again!"

Since we moved and had to find a new doctor, her 12 month doctors appointment wasn't able to be scheduled until 13 months.  So I don't know all of her "stats" for 12 months but a 13 months she weighed 19lbs and was 28 1/2 inches long. We took her to the health department a few days before her doctors appointment and got her 1 year immunizations, so at her doctor appointment, she screamed and screamed and I think it was because she was scared of getting more shots! Poor thing!  Or maybe it's just her age.

It's so hard to believe that she is over a year old already!  Time flew!! We are so incredibly thankful for the past year we had with Emerson.  It's crazy to look back at her newborn pictures and think of what life was like when we first brought her home from the hospital. And now she's walking and talking and has turn into an ornery little girl! She has been a joy to watch grow and develop and learn new things each and every day.  She has opened our eyes to how selfish we are and continues to teach us what selfless love is.  But most of all she has helped us to understand the love of our Heavenly Father to His children more fully. She continues to fill us each day with love and joy and challenges!  But we wouldn't want it any different!  Emerson Jane, we love you to the moon and back! And pray that as you grow, you will learn and understand God's love and desire for your life.
